SoulCalibur 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 Gamecube Library

The highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a GameCube Collection, with highly-acclaimed 3D weapon-based fighting game SoulCalibur 2 being one of three games confirmed to be available at launch during Wednesday's Nintendo Direct presentation. Users who purchase the "Online + Expansion Pack" will get access to the eventually expanding Nintendo GameCube library, with fan-favorite titles featuring upscaled graphics at higher resolutions (up to 1080p handheld/4K docked), improved performance, and online multiplayer functionality worldwide. The Legend of Zelda's Link will of course be playable as the GameCube version's exclusive character.

As for pricing, the entire GameCube Collection will be available for $49.99, providing access to all included titles. Individual games within the collection will be priced at approximately $14.99 each, allowing players to purchase only what they desire if they prefer not to buy the full set. To access online features, including multiplayer modes and cloud saves, players will need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This subscription service offers various tiers, with individual plans starting at around $19.99 per year. (*Some of the pricing info may change between now and launch.)

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller has been designed to enhance the gaming experience with several new features. Priced at $79.99, the NS2 pad features remappable GL and GR buttons, a dedicated C-button for quick access to the new GameChat menu, which is a significant addition aimed at improving multiplayer interactions. The controller maintains the comfortable feel of its predecessor while incorporating smoother thumbsticks that are quieter and more responsive, addressing common concerns such as stick drift.

More specifics on the upcoming SoulCalibur 2 release and online infrastructure are not currently known, but we'll keep you updated when we know more. In related news, Nintendo also announced Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Edition for Switch 2, which will also be available on the system's launch, June 5th, 2025. Stay tuned on The Fighters Generation for further details and upcoming announcements.
