Street Fighter 6, Capcom Fighting Collection Announced

Capcom's hype-inducing countdown and announcement at the Capcom Pro Tour 2021 Finals did not disappoint! Following an epic set between Daigo Umehara and Kawano in SFV: Champion Edition, Capcom officially announced Street Fighter 6 with a short TEASER TRAILER featuring Ryu and Luke... (which likely means SF6 takes place after the events of SFV and SFIII: 3rd Strike). Street Fighter 6 will feature a "hyper-realistic" graphics engine overhaul and a more serious tone — a bold departure from the cartoony / Pixar-style 3D aesthetic that began with SFIV in 2009 and continued with SFV in 2016.

Also announced today, Capcom Fighting Collection is a new compilation coming to PC and consoles featuring 10 classic Capcom gems in one package, including the entire Darkstalkers series, Hyper Street Fighter II: Anniversary Edition, and the never-before-released in the West Red Earth — complete with ROLLBACK Netcode-enhanced online play for ALL 10 games!

Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition originally and previously only appeared in the 2004 compilation, Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection on PS2 and Xbox. This edition of SF2 enables players to use and fight against all different versions of characters from previous installments (World Warrior, CE, Turbo, Super, and ST) for a total of 65 variations. Also included in the Capcom Fighting Collection is Cyberbots: FullMetal Madness, Pocket Fighter, and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. The compilation will also feature key artwork by BENGUS!

NEW Features for these classic titles include: Over 500 Gallery Items, Art Galleries with Rare Concept Art / Design Documents, BGM Player with over 400 tracks, Enhanced Features / EX Settings, Training Mode, Save Mid-Game, and Rollback Netcode-enhanced online play for ALL titles with Ranked, Casual, and Lobby Matches.

Capcom Fighting Collection releases June 24th, 2022 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. More details coming soon.

Yusuke Hashimoto (Bayonetta, Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter Alpha 3) confirmed on Twitter that he is one of the game designers working on Street Fighter 6.

The official website for Street Fighter 6 went live after the announcement. Capcom USA also posted a 4K quality version of the trailer which may be an indication that SF6 will indeed run in 4K resolution on newer consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as high-end gaming PCs.

Capcom said they will have "more to reveal" regarding SF6 this Summer, so the wait won't be too long before we learn more about the game. I can tell you one thing, this old school fighting game player couldn't be more excited for BOTH titles. As always, keep it here on Fighters Generation for continued coverage and more updates!
