SNK Opens Mai Shiranui Pop-Up Shop in Tokyo

In Tokyo, SNK recently opened up a Mai Shiranui-themed
pop-up shop at the Akihabara Container to celebrate the SNK heroine's birthday (which is officially listed as January 1st, 1974). The SNK pop-up shop has a wide variety of interesting Mai Shiranui merchandise available for sale, including: t-shirts, artwork, fans, tote bags, buttons, and more. The

Samurai Shodown Wan-Fu Gameplay Reveal Trailer

SNK released the gameplay reveal trailer for Wan-Fu, the final Season 1 DLC character of Samurai Shodown (2019). Most similar to his Samurai Shodown II roots, the 2019 version of Wan-Fu has him fighting his adversaries with a giant stone pillar once again. SNK also confirmed Wan-Fu's release for

SFV: Champion Edition Dec. 2019 Balance Update Patch Notes

A major balance update for Street Fighter V is available today and Capcom has posted the full
patch notes. In addition to many individual character buffs and nerfs, overall changes such as Health and Stun adjustments are implemented in the December 2019 patch. Specifically, all characters have received 25 more points of health and 50 points higher stun, which aim to lengthen the duration of
matches.

the design. As demonstrated in "her" official
gameplay trailer, Seth can now attack her opponents with a special grab move - which then allows her to perform at least one of their unique special moves / abilities!

new characters have been confirmed for Arc System Works' 2.5D fighter. Season 1's Character Pass will add Chaos Bringer & Narmaya in March 2020, with Soriz & Djeeta joining in April 2020. One more unannounced fighter will complete the Season 1 roster in 2020. Secondly, a second Character Pass

At The Game Awards '19, a short teaser
trailer for upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighter, The Joker, was shown. The 20-second trailer shows an updated appearance for Joker in MK11, differing from his "younger" version first revealed in the Fighters Pass trailer. Joker's teaser trailer has no gameplay, but The Joker
exchanges some words with Cassie Cage, who is appropriately dressed in her Harley Quinn DLC costume. The end of the trailer confirms Joker will join MK11 on January 28th.

On Twitter, TEKKEN series producer Katsuhiro Harada posted a (light-hearted) poll asking if fans are still excited for the mysteriously delayed title,
TEKKEN X Street Fighter. It's a fair question to ask, with TEKKEN 7 still dominating the competitive scene and SFV: Champion Edition announced for early 2020. TEKKEN 7 continues to grow player numbers online and tournament players
with each consecutive year - which is the opposite of what happens with most fighting games.

A new official SNK art book has been revealed and is now up for pre-order on Amazon Japan. Celebrating the company's 40 year history, "SNK Anniversary Fan Book" will be released in March 2020. The cover illustration is the latest by veteran SNK artist, Eisuke Ogura, and features some of SNK's most recognizable characters from the company's rich history. (My favorite part of the illustration might be Ralf Jones and Clark Still in their
original Ikari Warriors attire.)

This morning, NetherRealm Studios debuted Sindel's full gameplay
reveal trailer. Over 2-minutes long, Sindel's trailer includes a story interaction with Nightwolf and previews a good amount of Sindel's moveset and one of her Fatalities. Sindel will become available on November 26th (early) for Kombat Pack owners; she will be released as DLC for everyone else on

TEKKEN 7 Balance Update 3.03 is Live, Patch Notes

Bandai Namco rolled out a new balance
patch for TEKKEN 7 which addresses game balance for the following characters: Zafina, Dragunov, Negan, Shaheen, and Akuma. Over the past few months, Akuma in particular has been making waves in the TEKKEN 7 competitive scene with an incredibly strong start to Season 3. Version 3.03 gives
Akuma a respectible nerf, reducing his overall meter gain by 25%. On the other (Azazel) hand, Zafina received several damage and frame advantage buffs.

Evolution 2020 Reveal Trailer, Official Dates Announced

Today on Twitter, Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar announced the official dates for next year's Evolution Championship Series. EVO returns to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 31st - August 2nd. While the official games lineup has yet to be revealed, the
EVO 2020 trailer shows footage from last year's tournaments in TEKKEN 7, SFV: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, and Soul Calibur VI, pretty much confirming these games will be returning in 2020.

Love or hate Street Fighter V... there's no denying Capcom has had a very successful 2019 with their critically-acclaimed high-selling action, action RPG, and survival horror titles leading the way. Namely, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2 Remake, and Monster Hunter World were all massive hits,
selling over 18.5 million units collectively. Due to this recent success, Capcom stated that they are planning to "revive dormant IPs" which could end up being great news for fighting game fans.

During this weekend's Tokyo TEKKEN Masters 2019, Bandai Namco

Today, the arcade version of Samurai Showdown (2019) launches in Japan. On the official website for the game, arcade players logging into their NESiCAxlive2 accounts spotted an unconfirmed (until now) upcoming DLC fighter for the game on the website's top banner. In November, Samurai Shodown IV's Kazuki
Kazama is set to arrive in the new Samurai Shodown as the next DLC fighter. The leaked image has
confirmed Kazuki's brother, Sogetsu, will also be coming to the title.

HD screenshots of Dragon Ball FighterZ's upcoming DLC fighter, Broly, from his appearance in the Dragon Ball Super (2018) animated movie. While the original version of Broly is already a playable character in DBFZ, the Broly (DBS) will have an entirely different look and playstyle. Broly

Skullgirls: 2nd Encore Comes to Nintendo Switch October 22nd

An "instant cult classic" 2D fighting game series is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch. A version of Skullgirls was originally slated for a 2018 Switch release, but was mysteriously delayed until now. Publisher Skybound Games
announced that Skullgirls: 2nd Encore will be available for purchase on October 22nd, 2019 as a digital title. The official Nintendo product page confirms the digital Switch edition of Skullgirls: 2nd Encore will cost $24.99.

Soul Calibur VI Season 2 New Moves Trailer

Bandai Namco unveiled a new Soul Calibur VI trailer at SEAM 2019. The 2-minute long
trailer highlights brand new moves for every character in the game. Like TEKKEN 7 Season 3, all returning characters will get new attacks and balance updates. Soul Calibur VI Season 2 will also feature a crossover with the Samurai Shodown series, adding Haohmaru to the roster.
Bandai Namco hasn't announced the release date for Season 2, but we might learn more at the SC6 World Invitational.

SNK has announced October 15th as the release date for Samurai Shodown 2019's next DLC character, Basara Kubikiri. SNK posted Basara's full gameplay reveal
trailer, previewing the SSIII veteran's classic fighting style and demonic special moves. Like nearly all other returning characters, Basara plays closely to his original "Slash" version from prior games. However, Basara does have his "fake shadow" clone technique from his
"Bust" version.
