Samurai Shodown Coming to Epic Games Store in Spring 2020

Fans who haven't already picked up Samurai Shodown (2019) on PS4, XB1 or Switch might still be waiting for news from SNK about the PC release. While it was assumed SNK's 2.5D weapon-based fighter would be coming to Steam this year, Epic Games
confirmed Samurai Shodown is coming to the Epic Games Store in Spring 2020 - likely an exclusive. So far, SNK hasn't confirmed whether or not it will be an Epic Games Store exclusive.

trailer with brand new gameplay footage of Samurai Shodown guest character, Haohmaru, and finally announced his release date! Haohmaru joins SoulCalibur VI Season 2 on March 31st, 2020. The new
trailer shows off tons of new moves from the SNK veteran, including his classic Tenha Seiou Zan super move, a multi-hit combo string (a la SS4), several throw techniques, and a deadly Lightning Blade slash.

Tonight, SNK released a 40-second gameplay reveal trailer for returning Samurai Shodown IV veteran, Sogetsu Kazama (brother of Kazuki). In his official

Sega Opens 60th Anniversary Website, No Virtua Fighter Announcement

Not surprisingly, Sega's teaser from a few days back wasn't anything related to Virtua Fighter after all. Sega's (arguably cruel) teaser was only to announce the opening of their new 60th Anniversary
website, which looks at the history and timeline of Sega as a company. Sega chairman Haruki Satomi also provided a message to fans, "The year, 60 years will have passed since Nihon Goraku Bussan Co. Lid., the predecessor of Sega, was established on June 3, 1960.

hopeful for a Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. Before you get your hopes up for VF6, the teaser mostly relates to Segata Sanshiro.

Guilty Gear -STRIVE- PS4 Closed Beta Announced for April

closed beta for Guilty Gear STRIVE is planned for April 16th-19th on PlayStation 4. The beta version will feature 7 playable characters: Sol, Ky, May, Axl, Chip, Potemkin, and Faust. Arc System Works also noted that the PS4 beta will include the "revised" character selection screen and
in-game user interface. Better yet, ASW confirmed the release version of Guilty Gear STRIVE will use rollback netcode for online play!

Granblue Fantasy Versus Now Available on Steam

Unlike many other Arc System Works fighting games in recent memory, there wasn't a long gap between the release dates of the PS4 and PC versions for Granblue Fantasy Versus. As of March 13th, Granblue Fantasy Versus is available now on
Steam for $59.99 with an average review score of "Very Positive". Character Pass 1 is also available for $29.99, with additional color pack sets available from $1 to $3.

Dengeki Online recently sat down with TEKKEN series producer Katushiro Harada for a lengthy but very interesting
interview about TEKKEN 7's lifespan and history. Believe it or not, TEKKEN 7's location tests began in late 2014, with the arcade version "pre-launch" in February 2015. A fighting game to last competitively for 5 years and still see increasing player
numbers is a rare occurrence, and TEKKEN 7's breakout success wasn't originally anticipated by Bandai Namco.

A new trailer for the animated film Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge debuted at Final Kombat 2020. The new 2-minute trailer previews more scenes from the movie, shows many classic characters, and confirms Scorpion's Revenge will indeed contain blood and gore, complete with a "Rated R"
rating. The
NSFW trailer even shows some X-ray moves & Fatalities. The movie will be released digitally starting April 12th and comes to DVD/Blu-Ray/Ultra HD on April 28th.

Tonight at Final Kombat 2020, NetherRealm Studios debuted the official Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay
reveal trailer for the final DLC character of the Kombat Pack, Spawn. The early 90's antihero shows off what he can do in MK11 gameplay, toting machine guns, chains, and hellfire, and even a float mechanic. Early Access for Spawn

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues its path of disruption amid growing concerns, causing numerous cancellations of esports events and other public gatherings across the world. The latest
events to be effected are Final Round and Norcal Regionals, both removed as official qualifying events for both TEKKEN World Tour and Soul Calibur World Tour 2020. The MIXUP event in Lyon, France has also been postponed to July 18-19.

canceled due to growing concerns over Coronavirus. NRS's last-minute cancellation (under 24 hours before the actual event) is especially unfortunate, since 100's of players already traveled to Chicago for the event and checked into their hotels. WB Games told attendees with non-refundable travel

A YouTuber known as BabyZone decided that there weren't already enough celebrities in Mortal Kombat 11. Using creepy but impressive "Deepfake" editing technology, BabyZone superimposed the faces of Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. onto MK11 cutscenes featuring Sub-Zero and Scorpion. The shockingly realistic visual effect is amplified with pretty decent voice impersonations by Allen Jones and Michael Gutierrez.

Granblue Fantasy Versus has officially launched on PS4 in North America. Boss character Chaos Bringer and the first DLC fighter for the game,
Narmaya, are now available. Chaos Bringer / Beelzebub can be unlocked for free by completing the game's RPG Mode (but can be purchased as DLC for $2.99 if you want early access), and Narmaya can be purchased for $6.99. The first GBVS Character Pass is $29.99 which includes Chaos Bringer, Narmaya,

Another FGC event has been impacted by the Coronavirus scare, this time postponing a major stop of the TEKKEN World Tour 2020. Bandai Namco Esports confirmed on Twitter that the
Tokyo Tekken Masters tournament (originally planned for April 4th-5th, 2020) has been postponed until a later date due to the Coronavirus scare. "Stay tuned for updates as we continue to monitor the situation closely," said Bandai Namco.

Koei Tecmo announced Dead or Alive 6 will be getting a new playable character to be released with the game's fourth Season Pass. The new character is named "Tamaki" and previously appeared as a swimsuit model in Koei Tecmo's Dead or Alive: Xtreme Venus Vacation spin-off title. The teaser

TEKKEN 7 Sold 5 Million Copies Worldwide, Updated Takuji Kawano Illustration

On Twitter, TEKKEN series producer Katsuhiro Harada announced that TEKKEN 7 has now sold over 5 million copies since its launch in June 2017 (as of December 2019). Harada added that this marks over 49 million copies sold for the entire TEKKEN series. As with past milestones for the game,
artist Takuji Kawano updated the celebratory
artwork by adding all of Season 3's characters to the illustration.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge Trailer

Warner Bros and IGN released the official
trailer for the upcoming animated film, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. The R-rated feature-length straight-to-home-video movie takes storyline inspiration from the 2011 reboot (Mortal Kombat 9) and will be releasing on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital in Spring 2020. Several
voice actors from previous movies and games will reprise their roles in Scorpion's Revenge, including Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro.

Bandai Namco released the full character balance
patch notes for TEKKEN 7's Version 3.20 update (releasing tomorrow). As expected, newly released DLC character Leroy Smith received a healthy dose of nerfs, toning down certain OP moves of his. Once again, the all new My Replay & Tips mode will also arrive with TEKKEN 7's 3.20 patch.
Today, Michael Murray also stated on Twitter that there will be a "more thorough" balance patch releasing in mid February.

My Replay & Tips, in addition to the next character balance update (Leroy nerfs incoming). My Replay & Tips mode allows players to save their replays and includes new features (possibly camera angle editing). Tips will also appear onscreen during replays when punish opportunities are missed to

Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon recently announced on Twitter that an animated movie based on the lore of Scorpion will be releasing in the first half of 2020. Titled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, the

A scan from V-Jump magazine confirms "Ultra Instinct Goku" is the next DLC character coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ. While a "Season 3" of DBFZ hasn't been officially announced by Arc System Works (yet),
Ultra Instinct Goku might be leading the way as the first new character of an upcoming roster / game update via DLC. The DBFZ World Tour Finals is less than one month away - taking place in Paris, France on February 8th-9th, so we'll find out more soon enough.

Point-based martial arts competitions can be difficult to follow for casual spectators. The official Korea TaeKwondo Association recently debuted an impressive new piece of technology which implements "fighting game style"
life bars (most closely resembling TEKKEN's) into a live martial arts tournament. Wearable sensors on each competitor's chest and head gear deduct points from their life bar on the big screen - all in real time!
